auwh cute pictures, everyone should feel free to post pictures love to see 'em. Any tips on products are welcome as well. You can go crazy researching things.

My guys seem to go crazy scratching sometimes, usually their hunches. I've done a careful look at there coats for fleas but don't see anything, any thoughts suggestions?

They seem to get dry skin pretty easily, and are generally an itchy animal (ours always were, even when they were perfectly healthy). One of ours even got the name Itchy just because she never stopped itching!

If they start losing fur from the scratching, then there's an issue, but as long as the coat looks good and they aren't causing damage, it shouldn't be an issue.

Oh yah, they LOOOOOOVE tubes. Dryer vent tubes (the plastic/fabric ones, not metal) are particularly favored, as they can be bent and doubled over.

maybe you bath them too often or use some shampoo that they do not like - but my guys did scratch themselves too ... I don't think it's THAT abnormal.

suggestion as of some products yes - Bi-Odor you add it to water, safe for them and less unpleasant for us ;)

I always collected "old" newspapers that the stores throw out and used them for bedding - I would bend it on the edges so that everything stays inside and once I had to change it I would simply fold all of that crap =) like a present :P - easy to clean, ferrets were happy =)

get them a 4-5" flexible hose - they love running/hiding in those ;)

GOOD LUCK !!!

the empty bow front is my upcoming project, my fish recently got upgraded to a 160g. I'm going to do a riparium like the ones that hydrophyte has posted, if you haven't seen his posts you should check them out they are gorgeous.

i was just kidding but thanks for the info

I got the flexible hose and they love it. I haven't bathed them at all yet, I did see some tea tree products for their coats that i was thinking about getting, anyone use them before? Glad to hear that they seem to do be scratchers, their coats are good no hair loss or anything like that. I had a bunch of bedding left over from my mouse fin it's lavender scented and very adsorbant so far it seems to be keeping the smell down.

I think I'm going to buy some black out curtains and line the top layer of their cage so they can nap in total darkness during the day.

My mom always used baby shampoo for the ferrets (the "no cry" kind). She figured if it was gentle enough for a baby human, it was good enough for a ferret.

But they do make ferret specific products now, you just have to do some searching for them.
