ya but it has hang on overflow, and it wont hang on this tank. i cant pipe it into my overflow easily, since it cant handle 2500 gph and i need the flow into my sump. ill figure it out
One thought I've been kicking around for my big tank set up is to temporarily connect my current wet/dry filter to the new holding sump by placing a little submersible pump in the sump to pump water to the wet/dry filter. I had assumed that I would just connect one of the Ultimas to my current 300 gallon tank a month or so before the big move......but it would be easier to just move the wet/dry filter to the new holding sump on fish moving day and run it until I have BB established in the new filters.
Perhaps you could use your wet/dry filter on your holding sump, like I'm contemplating doing on mine---except with your overflow, you wouldn't need two pumps like I'll need.
Also, speaking of heaters and Hammerhead pumps--I run a 400W heater on my 300 gallon tank which adequately heats the water. I think the high volume of water being pumped through all the pipes must generate some heat. BTW, I have three heaters like yours. If my theory is correct, I should only have to use two to heat my new system.
Whatever you do, do not set up your Hammerhead Gold like this (my husband thought it would protect the pump)
The pump is very quiet, but the loud vibration of the pan on the wood floor is terrible. Having learned our lesson, all the pumps in the new set up will be sitting on these sound dampening pads:

They are about 4" x 4" and appear to be rubber with cork between the rubber outsides.
