fts is tough to get back far enough and it looks really cloudy if i get the lights in, he is a rtcxtsn and i got him under 2 inches on xmas eve and now hes like 15" after less than 5 months

That's impressive growth. You think really think 500g will be sufficient for a full grown RTC though?... I'm surprised I didn't notice it was RTC but it's a bit hard to see in the pic. Looks good though. :)

ummm i figure he will hit maybe 3 ft maybe a lil more, the footprint is huge on this tank, so hopefully he will be okay. so i had to clean filtersocks tonight and pulled over 100 goldfish out of 2 of them, guess that will cause a backup, but will be glad when they are all eaten. picked up a decent size gar today prob 10", but looking at him in the old catfish's tank im not sure he will be big enough. i will get more shots soon

3 ft? RTC grow up to 5' bro. You need easily over 1000 gallons to properly house a RTC. But, stock isn't our discussion so I'll stay on topic.

I had a problem with smaller fish jumping into my overflows as well. Possibly you could construct a top for them? Seems like a lot of hassle though for just gold fish but your definitely right about clogging being a possibility.

ya they are all ending up in the filter socks, but o well. he isnt a true rtc, hes a hybrid rtcxtsn and i know they can get over 5 feet, but i think he will be okay if he stays under like 4 feet. should be a while before he hits that mark, and will give me an excuse to go get something bigger

Only just seen this thread, looks great though your rtcX is one lucky fish.

What's the tsn part stand for?

How's the tank doing today anyhow? Water nice and clear? I still wanna see a FTS even if it's not the best pic.
