Pre filter on the pump can work just as effectively as mechanical filtration plus they are just as easy to clean when you do a weekly water change. When you kill the pump power during wc just pop her off and rinse while wc is in process.
 
errr tank is on hold. i think its like the 3rd time i filled it only to findout the same bulkhead leaks, im pulling the whole thing down and redoing the whole left bulkhead. just need to find a few people to help me lift. anyone wanna help?
 
Ouch, that sucks. I cut a big square out of the area where my 125g plumbing runs on my stand so I don't have to take the tank down to replumb things.
 
Man you work fast bro! G'luck with that leak, the last few things to fix always seem the hardest... but they're worth it!
 
Awesome build, I can only imagine how frustrating that has to be, I personally would be cussing like a sailor, lol, keep at it though, awesome tank, it will be worth it in the end.
 
i got soooo mad at it so many times, luckily i think the 4th time is a charm, ill get pics soon but cant see much from the sand clouding the water. you should see what 250 goldfish look like in a 500g tank, they dont even know what to do
 
Hope you finish the tank soon. Will be a great build. My 650g is only half done. Waiting for the tank builder to finish the glass build (it's not a rectangle shape) and I know the wait when it is started but not finished is frustrating.

took some pics this AM but i will get better ones tonight once the sand settles a little, right now it looks like i filled it with 500g of milk

Lol, what kind of sand did you use? So you have the leak 100% repaired?
