Some people shouldn't have fish if they don't know the difference between them. Thats why i choose to educate myself so i avoid things like this.

Maybe, since you obviously know everything about fish, you could educate yourself on couth and class when making comments...

Not festae. These are H. Temporalis aka chocholate cichlid.

dude that totally sucks you are having such bad luck trying to find your festae :( hopefully your luck will turn around soon :) oh and the a*#hole who made snobby comment about how he shouldnt keep fish if he doesnt know how to tell them apart you need to keep your ridiculous comments to yourself, not everyone knows every single thing about every fish and especially when buying fry this small even the most knowledgeable of experts can have trouble identifying fry, the OP knows exactly what hes looking for and how to care for them its his ****ty lfs that keeps labeling fry wrong so you need to not comment unless you have something constructive to say

Sorry convict i worded that wrong that wasnt a stab at you.

EDIT: i'd take them back say these are temporalis not festae and i don't want these. Some people shouldn't "sell" fish if they don't know the difference between them. Thats why i choose to educate myself so i avoid things like this.

Sorry that sounded very rude, i appoligize

That's actually how I read it the first time but very good of you to clarify nonetheless.

Also, I obviously have no idea what type of fish store you got those chocolates from but I have a few shops near me that often times forget to update the labels on the tanks when they get new stock. Doesn't mean they don't know what it is.
Now, if someone- when asked- told you that those chocolates were festae, I'd take everything that they say with a grain of salt from now on.

Don't stop going there though! IME, it's always in the shops that mislabel their stock where you find the greatest deals.:naughty:

no problums, thanks for the support in the replys:),i have learned a good bit in the last couple of weeks, all i can do now is laugh at me buying chocs as fesate:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:,the tiger barbs do very well with my cichlids atm,my present cichlids are,f0 oscar,2 f1 thorichthys meeki,2 f1 cutteri,1 ebjdxbgjd pair,1 herichthys carpinte,2 nandopsis salvini,4 juv nandopsis urophthalmus :(,1 nicaraguense,1 450 litre,1 400 litre, any many many grow out tanks,my plan is to have a pair of festae in the 450 litre and if they get to big for that i will upgrade, thanks

Your store labeled these as festae?

Sometimes stores get in new fish before they get around to erasing old names. Often times priority in the moment is to get the fish safely into the tank with the goal of changing names/prices soon after, but that does not always happen in a timely manner.

I am not saying the employee should not have pointed out that these are not festaes, but there does need to be some level of knowledge on the part of the customer too.
