RTC or any big fish, only has a chance at a good life if a serious fishkeeper buys them. If they arent left in the wild, then they can only depend on serious fishkeepers. Other than this, they dont have a chance and pretty much live a bad life.

i bought my first RTC today, being in AUS it cost me $450
i have to consider myself to be pretty serious about the hobby to spend that kind of money
perhaps if they werent so cheap/readily available in other countries they wouldnt be purchased by people who dont really understand what they are getting themselves into

Good point, but damn thats a hefty price you paid. I can get them for 12.99 to 14.99 USD. Its tempting to buy one but I just know I couldnt help it later when it would get large.
it is but i think its worth it, its funny tho they are the same price at 2" as they are at 2'
