Hex treatment

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That depends on what the return policy is at the store you bought it. Most likely I would say no they won't give you money back since it has been 3 days now. They can say 3 days is plenty of time for a fish to develop hex, which in reality that is plenty of time.

Do you think if I call the store I bought it from on Friday night that they will refund me some money? I only paid $70 for him but I didn't expect all this or else I wouldn't have....

I called the store and he offered me $35 in store credit. So half of what I paid for the fish! Any advice on what to get?

Btw how big is the main tank and what's the stock list?

Main tank is 100gallons. I know it's a little small for the fish just alone but that's all my mother will allow me to have upstairs haha she wasn't happy with it in the first place lol

Anyways...

Fish in there now are all roughly the same size. I will have to later on get rid of some and I already started to. Currently on top of my head I have 2 oscars, 1 peacock bass, 1 red belly pacu (wanna buy him? Lol), 2 snowflake eels, green terror, jaguar cichlid, arowanna, hydro gar, 2 clown knife, 3 clown loach (medium size) and 2 colorful cichlids. All seem to do great together! I haven't had much fighting....yet lol but I will be getting rid of some cuz I know it's overcrowded.

I saw the information that was given to you in the other post..... honestly I don't know what they are talking about. Hex is highly contagious via fecal matter of infected fish. I don't know why prazipro was recommended to you for treatment. That is for flatworms. Metro should have been recommended to you. Treat in a separate tank but your gonna need to watch your main tank closely. Flowerhorns like warm temps. I keep my flowerhorn tank at 85. I would bump the hospital tank up to 88. Keep it well oxygenated. Treat according to directions entirely. Don't think because the fish looks better in a day that you should discontinue treatment.View attachment 1072921

Yea I turned his tank up to 82 and the tank he was originally kept in when I bought him was at 75! I thought that was low for any cichlids. I'll put some metro in my big tank also just in case and change the water again and skim the rocks with my gravel cleaner

Buy metroplex, kanaplex, prazipro all for emergency needs. It's better to have something and not need in the. Need something and don't have it and can't find it.

Your tank is EXTREMELY overstocked. 1 full grown Oscar needs a 75 min. Tank. Not even mentioning the gar, aro, or a pacu.Your peacock bass alone makes that size tank over stocked. You need to consider getting rid of fish like now. I can tell you one thing that is a diffent if you keep this stocking. Your gonna need a lot more meds due to stress and death is a certain for most of those fish.

75 to 80 is normal for a cichlid on average. Flowerhorns just like warm water. I keep mine at 85 daily.

Yea I'm working on that lol it's hard cuz my niece grew attached to these fish and my LFS will only give me 1/3 the retail price! So I rather sell online. If it was up to me, I would just keep that flowerhorn alone if he doesn't die! I do routine maintenance and clean the filters all the time. So it's not true that a fish will grow to whatever the tank can allow him to? They will grow their adult size no matter what? I've been told that when it gets too hard to clean, then it's overstocked lol. I guess my LFS aren't very good lol
