Hey Guys, finally getting some Piranhas few questions.

Oh man, my thoughts exactly.. I have 2 years left in Grad school and once I am working i can't wait to become a homeowner and save up for a 300g+ tank. It really excites me to think about owning something that big, whether for P's or other fish, I've always wanted a monster tank in my living room, more entertaining than T.V. in my opinion.
haha, yeah big ideas, always a sign of intelligence. Sounds good. Well now we talking about future tanks, for real, I plan on having 3 tanks.. 1- 150-200g African cichlids from Lake Malawi. 2- 200-300g Piranhas Mixed and 3- 500-600g 1-3 sharks. Thats all I ask for in life, and will put away lots of money to make those come true... Tank sizes may vary, but if anything, will be larger.
If I was going to go SW I'd totally keep a grouper, they are such amazing fish... probably really expensive to feed however. I think a 300g would be awesome for a big shoal of Caribes, if only big rhoms got along with others :O. It'd be awesome to keep Pacus with some P's too, and some armored cats, maybe set up a small slice of the Amazon.
Lesley if you get some big tank and load of cash i can take you to the place i got my piranha from...it only 4hrs drive from us. trust me you will get rare and cheap piranha for sure/.
Dude the africans prefer higher ph and hard water and piranhas thrive in soft tainted brownish green fast current oygenated waters and your africans might accidently eat the high protein pellets you are feeding your rbp with that might give your africans major stomach cramps and may even kill them.If i were you just chose to keep one or the other species.

Hehe, I set up another tank for the Africans. Africans can thrive from 7.2-8.0 and P's are fine from 7.0 to mid 7's I have it under control with my second tank up and running, dont worry.
Lesley where did you get your piranha? I know a LFS carrie them baby about 1" or so..he some time carri black piranha rhom too. if you want a lot he can get them for you.

Sticky, I'm getting them from a LFS in Somerville. He has a permit to keep them but not sell them, but I have known him since i was about 11 so he said he'd get them for me. He can get a few types, black rhoms, sanchezis and regular RBP's and something called a Zebra Piranha? no idea what it is or if it even exists, but it was too expensive.
