Hi pls help urgent it's beEn 5 days ich not decreasing at all

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
5 days, is not a long enough time to cure ick.
The only way to cure it, is for all cysts to go thru their life cycle, and the vulnerable stages to become killed by the salt, and/or meds.
Since you cannot raise the temp, the cycle may take weeks to have all protozoa hatch and become vulnerable. The type of meds do not change the times line.
If a parasite hatches into the tank, and the osmotic pressure of the salinity or the med is strong enough, the cell will die, if not it will reinfect the fish, the the cycle begins anew,
Salinity must be at least 3ppt (parts per thousand) 10 lbs of salt in a 325gal, or the ick not implode, it will shrug it off, and reinfect the nearest fish.
And just because a fish does not have obvious outward symptoms, does not mean its not infected, if ick is in the tank, you must assume all fish are infected.

Ok sir Duane how many teaspoon should I gradually add each day to make it as safe as possible to my juvie and plecos?to give them a fighting chance of surviving?oh so 2 300 watts is still not enough to heat my tank should I add 1 more?really appreciate ur helping this newbie out sir Duane:(:(

Pls sir Duane give me a safe number of teaspoons of salt and if I should add 1 more 300 or 200 watts heater?

You only need enough heaters to maintain a constant temp. Is your temperature fluctuating?
If not then you have enough heat. The general advice to maintaining a temperature in any aquarium is to use multiple smaller heaters so if one malfunctions the results would be slowed down, that is the general theory.
But, Where you're at with ich I would worry about that later. I would just be sure the tank is being kept at a consistent temperature.

Yes big g i used to have a temperature reader but sort of busted now and I'm a little low on cash since the last shipment of cichlids arrived plus I just bought an arowana and the tank equipment and stuff that it is in did not anticipate this ich outbreak believe it or not for 3 years we've been keeping fish this is the first time we got ich on our main tank to boot the contents of which took 5 months to find and buy plus it's still 8 days to the next payday me and my bf need to budget so we figured we just got to try and squeeze out the money for another heater how many watts do you think we should get already have 2 300 watts there

You need a thermometer before you keep buying heaters. In America they are only 1 or 2 dollars compared to a $30 + heater. You tank may be be at 30 right now.

I'd add the entire 10lbs in 1 day, for a 325 gal.
I add handfuls every 30 minutes, maybe even one handful on each end of the tank.
It is the saline concentration that kills ick, under 3ppt, they are laughing at you.
The longer you wait, the more ick hatch out and reinfect, and get onto/into the fishes body(inner gill membrane), where it is immune to treatment, and then you need to start treatment all over again if concentration isn't high enough.
And I see people stressing the heaters, if this is a 325 gal tank, raising temp even 1 degree will take time.
And with the OP being in the Philippines, this strain of ick, may be resistant to heat, unlike the cool water varieties found in the U.S and Europe. Where I live in Panama, there is ick in 90' water temp pools.
Ick is not the same variant, in all parts of the world
