i simply placed 10 pellets on a plate with water from the sink. i might of twirled the plate a couple of times but i did not use old water to begin with nor did i deliberately smash the pellets. thats fine. you can continue to use these pellets. this thread is not for you. it's for the people that might be having problems with water discoloration, not overfeeding and cannot figure out why there water is discolored. anything else you want to accuse me of?

Making a totally pointless thread that only seems to affect you and noone else. I use this stuff for my cichla orinocencis juveniles and don't have any problems.

I have been feeding the sinking cichlid gold for a while, other than turning my fish's poop red I haven't noticed anything. Recently I started feeding mostly xtreme cichlid pellets, they are brown instead of red.

is that your platinum looking aro in your avator? i hope you dont have it with your cichla. if it is, pay close attention to your aro's color. it'll dye it reddish. don't believe me? wait and see...

So lets see pics of that extra shinny silver of yours, is it red? Maybe the pellets are staining your water because of another reason such as additives, water softener or something:confused: It just don't seem that many others are having this experience.

hang on a minute. are people trying to say that feeding red food turns silver/platinum fish reddish??

sorry, but that does not happen.

if your water is turning red from the food its probably because there is a lot of red fish waste in your gravel. or a lot of uneaten food in your tank.

combined with old carbon or no carbon.

I have been feeding tetra colour bits non stop to almost all my tanks since the early 90's. all you get is a reddish filter sponge.

thats it.

I saw your results yesterday and set up some myself. After doing so, I have to call BS on this one. Mine have been soaking for nearly 20 hrs now and still have nothing that looks like your result. I don't even have all the particles that you seem to have in your test dish indicating you deliberately squashed pellets into the water or used dirty water to start with? The result I got, you would need a ridiculously massive amount of pellets in your water to turn your tank water red. By the time you achieved this, your water would be pretty toxic making your color issue the least of your worries.
I agree with Bderick, if your water is getting colored from these pellets, it is time to re-evaluate the way you are doing things.:)

And furthermore... No you are not going to turn that aro red that is ridiculous. (rolls eyes)
