I think Hao likes firefighters :naughty:  ;)
Sure why not? :naughty:

aye SM, -salute- people like you who aren't concerned with the pay are why we have firefighters, anytime I've seen those group of men going to someones house none of them looked like they did it just cause they had no where else to be. I'm enlisting perhaps next year in the United States Marine Corps, M1 crewman.

Though plans to do such may be terminated as no one knows how to handle my responsibilities (my pets.)

my beardie only eats by my presence comfortably..

your step granny is not only wrong, she seems a bit nuts LOL

firefighters around here are well paid, well trained and highly respected.

don't listen to her.

Im just a volunteer so i dont get paid but i do get reimbursed by the city. My captain is making 97k a year:)

Well, sorry but I disagree with the previous posters, and agree with your step-grandma although I dont agree with her approach. Its easy to say "hey kid follow your dreams" but dreams can be followed without throwing away future options. Imagine in five years if you get fed uop with the firefighting job (I know youre sure you wont now, but you really cant be sure), it will be much harder to go into a desirable career than it is now. If you maximize your potential now, you can always become a firefighter later. Burn out on firefighting, and you will have a harder time stepping up to a higher academic level at that time.

Foolow your dreams, but stay logical and rational. Too many people romanticise rebellion and hyper individuality but real life has an order of its own that cant be avoided.

My stepdad's a firefighter. His shift works every 3 days and he gets paid just a hair more than he did working 5 days a week as a fire marshall. he worked on the line before he became a fire marshall then decided to go back to the line. he loves it, and the guys are respectable. whats not to like about saving peoples lives?

exactly plec! thank you!
oh and he works 24/48s? heh heh i work 24/72s

Actually, firefighters have to go to school and fire academy to become a firefighter. Its not as easy as you think. Its not all about hands on work there is also class work. Firefighters can also get better positions if the excel in school. With a higher education they can become a Lt., captain, chief, fire marshal, arson investigator, and all sort's of other position. Many people think when you become a firefighter your just only a firefighter and nothing else. I am going to go to UCLA in a year to study fire science. There are actually degree's you can get.
