HOB or canister filter

I'd pick up two AC70s for the adult tank or one AC70 and pull one of the four AC50s from the other tank.
I try for about 10x per hour water movement with HOBs and two AC70s gives 300 x 2 = 600 gal/h divided by 55 gal = 11x turnover.

Use the smaller filters for the fry tanks so less water pull into the intake so you don't lose fry. You can put sponges over the intakes.

I like to have at least 2 filters per tank in case one quits. To me for example, an AC70 and AC 50 are better together than an AC110 even though water flow is equal.

Are you talking newborn fry? If so a 55 gallon is too big. The fry will never find the food and it is hard to do weekly or 2x/week water changes.
I use a 10 gallon for newborn fry with a bare bottom. I can monitor/remove dead fry, fish find food easily, easy to remove uneaten food and easy to use a small bucket and do water changes twice or three times a week.

This isnt for newborn fry it's more of a stage 3 fry tank they are big enough that they won't get sucked up the filter and I will probably end up getting 2 ac 70s thanx for the advice
