Well, my Mom lives there, she sent me this, it's been forewarded many times. So this one was a local. Off the coast of "Ocean Shores", WA, which is only a couple miles from Westport over the water. There's many links on the page and they didn't make sense to me. There may be other incidents and I could have been completely misinformed, but I shared it as it was shared with me.
Most of our boats in town are commercial fishing vessels, we also are the home port for the tall ship used in Pirates of the Carribean, the "Black Pearl" is really named the Lady Washington. There's a drawbridge and port for container vessels from all over the world as well. Grays Harbor is a lumber port so we have many different ships in and out.
I did not intend to offend anyone by the graphic photos, I absolutely DO NOT believe in killing these magnificent creatures, the ocean is their home and we are their guests. I have perhaps become used to seeing the Commercial Fishing boats offload, I know most of the people on them, though it saddens me, it is the way of life.
Most of my family belongs to Greenpeace, so again, no offense to anyone, but this is the reality of the mentality of the Commercial Fishermen, they were raised that way, and they have families to feed. Many times strange creatures are caught in the nets and there is no attempt to save them, and yeah, all 5'2 of me has jumped in the face of more than one 300 lb musclebound fishermen defending the local seals and Dahl Porpise. Probably never accomplished much, but the demise of any life saddens me.
