Same for my HD too.They carry pool filter sand but they were sold out yesterday when i went to look.I guess because the time of year it goes fast.

don't use HTH pool filter sand. anything that says Silica run like heck from. I had a very bad experiance with that brand of sand have rinsed it insanely to be safe it still killed off 1/2 my tank.

You must have had a diffrent problem i have used this actual brand (HTH walmart special) for many years in many tanks and never had a problem.

Be sure to clean sand before putting it in! Clean it very well.

Have used HTH myself with zero issues, maybe your bag was cross contaminated by some other item during shipping
