i just cant believe this thread is 3 pages long already....Some topics get so much attention AND theres the times that people really need help on here and you get no replies what-so-ever..But u ask about a whitening product and the flood gate opens..I will never get this site......BUMP FOR WHITE TEETH
Gums don't receed from your entire tooth, they receed from the center of your tooth - the outter parts (the parts of your gums that most commonly bleed when you floss, in fact the very area that you floss - between your teeth) remain the same.
So if you've got receeding gums, and you're trying to bleach your teeth straight across, those peices of your gums that are still down there between your teeth are going to get some of it.
Honestly dude, get a Sonic Care Elite right now - hop onto E Bay, by the time you've got your wedding you may find you don't even need to whiten them. Especially if you don't smoke or drink coffee.
DBS, thanks for your help, I'll check into the sonic, I just thought the strips may help too, my teeth are actually in pretty good shape, I've never had a cavity! I was hoping the strips might give thema boost for the heavy pic load.
My wife is a dental hygienist, she says Crest White Strips are the best over-the-counter whiteners. According to her, placement is KEY. Apply the strips with the edge placed close to but not touching the gums. Don't worry about how far it wraps around the back of the teeth. Also, push the strip in between the teeth so you're whitening the whole tooth. Otherwise you may miss the interproximal (between teeth) surfaces and it won't look good. If you have any problems with sensitivity use a fluoride mouthwash and/or a sensitive toothpaste. Start the treatment about a month before your wedding.
Or, for best results, go to your dentist and have professional bleach trays made. this would run around $250.00 here in Oregon.
I recommend the crest white strips. Our office offers a take home tray type. It is quite expensive, so I tell our patients to first try the white strips and if they are consistant and like the results then to go ahead with our system as you get your own trays that are custom made for your mouth. You cannot hurt your teeth or strip enamel off of them with this. You can get sensitve teeth and gums if you use them often. Totally reversible when you stop. Just make sure that you have no current decay and use 2xs per day for 2 weeks then once weekly to maintain. The sonicare is a very good brush, I have used it since they became available(on my 3rd one) also a good tan is really an option.
