  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My Lfs gets them a lot, never seen one as an adult though, almost all of his are around 4 or 5" long, a lot more blue than that though, he said the will lose a lot of the blue as the get older.

Hey aquamojo do you ship fry? And how much do you want for some?

they would go for serious bucks..
maybe fry would be cheaper

Nope, I have one as well. When these guys were collected, other than Mojo, Ken from Fish Farm also had a wild breeding pair, and back in early 2008 he sold tiny f1 fry. Everyone snatched them up, and since then Ken lost his male and was unable to breed them. I lost 3 and kept 2 alive at less than an inch. Fearing that these would not be a pair, I asked Mojo for some fry but he does not ship (i dont blaim him, its a pain in the butt). Lucky for me the remaining two were a breeding pair. I wish there was a way to prove it, there is no obvious difference between the hondos and common jags but a little more blue in the right lighting. Youl just have to believe me or not. Hopfully Mojo and Ken can vouch for me
pics 4&7 on the first page are the female and male respectively.

I have spawned them and just been giving away the fry to friends since the pair lives in a 600 with too many other fish for the babies to survive. Unfotunately, the fry never make it cuz their too small when I remove them. The plan is to give these guys their own tank and start selling the larger fry. But, when I do get this set up, the fry will not only be f2 but inbred as their parents were from the same spawn.

I'm really not set up for shipping fry. No boxes or other materials. And as John pointed out, it's just a royal pain in the butt for the amount of money you make. I do GIVE away a bunch of fry at the various club gatherings and the annual ACA convention. I had six 3-4" of the F1 Managuense from these fish that I brought to Cincinnati this year.

John is correct. The only difference is the accentuated blue back on the fish. The older the fish and the closer to wild I believe will have more blue. The two large males in the pond (the fish I posted in this thread) have a lot of blue in the back.

Here's another of the males that I have in a 100 gallon tank.
