I have aquired a new wolf in my expanding collection which came in as curupira. Having looked at it for a little while now I suspect it is either brasiliensis or intermedius hopefully Braveheart will look at this and know immiediatly what it is.

It appears to have 4 laterosensory pores along each side of the jaw and 43 lateral line scales so this could be either.

Thanks

Very nice looking wolf! The head looks like my H. australis is the first pic. She is around 14" right? Very cool to see all these different wolves showing up lately...

I reeeaaallly like that fish...whatever it is. The mouth looks gigantic in that second shot.

Congrats on the new addition, you have a great collection of fish.

very beastly looking fish.
i cant help with the ID though,im pretty sure no one ha seen those species in captivity,or at least know that they are what they are.

Thanks Norbert I am a fan of your collection aswell.

I do prefer the profile of this wolf to the black. a bit sleaker and a much bigger mouth in proportion to it's body. It's not very well shown in these shots but it does have a couple of Jaguar like spots on it's side, I think if we give it a common name we should go with "Jaguar Wolf" :grinno:

Thanks Channa. Nobody seems to know. The head profile looks like brasiliensis in the lacerdae PDF but the genaral fish is a better match to the intermedius in the linked images in the following thread.

good looking wolf you got there jelly, the patterns on the side are pretty unique. the one close to the tail looks like 6 sideway.
