Hopolo catfish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I can pick up a used 60 gallon for probably 20$ sitting in a back yard growing mosquitoes. I wonder if HOB filtration will be enough?
Have to weld another angle iron stand. Shoestring budget here.
Hob should be ok if you do adequate water changes

Man, you are looking at $35 each for hoplos here, wish I could go and catch some.
They are almost indestructible, mine died after I moved house and tank went a bit haywire but they lasted years before that. They eat anything, used to drop in an earthworm as a treat now and then.
If you can get a cheap tank and catch some it would make a great setup, always active and moving and very curious. Think you wouLd enjoy watching them.

They are said to be very hardy, air gulpers and gill breathers. I would send you some, but could you imagine shipping? lol
After last years hurricane brought the river to a near historic flood, I saw a group of hundreds right on top of a little area, right at the surface.
When the water went down, an 8 acre park that was underwater, was covered in dead fish.

It's not just the shipping, it's the crazy quarantine laws we have, there's no way we could do this which is a shame as if you have access to that many free hoplos we could split it and both make some nice cash!
Good to see its doing well, don't think the shrimp will last much longer now he's up and about.
I would consider catching a few more to keep him company, when I had 4 hoplos together they were a lot of fun.

Now, late at night he has found his oats. He is like an extra filter swimming everywhere stirring up poo, hope it helps the HOB filter work
He went from a mummy, to acting like his tank is Columbian coffee
Where you from, any guess on shipping to Toronto

First will have to see if you can import it and they are not a banned fish. Then going to have to call your customs agent and see what you have to do to import a fish from the US, he's is Florida btw.

I was looking into it and it was a nice chunck of change for the correct certificates to be able to import into the US from Canada.
