This is NOT a union issue. CEOs gave themselves 80% raises a few years ago. Then wanted huge pay cuts for everyone else. They have been circling the drain for years and have filed for bankruptsy before iirc.

This is NOT a union issue. CEOs gave themselves 80% raises a few years ago. Then wanted huge pay cuts for everyone else. They have been circling the drain for years and have filed for bankruptsy before iirc.
Twinkies are crap now. The cake used to be moist and soft and cream really sweet. This was like 30 years ago. But in recent years they had to change there ingredients to make it less fatty so its full of artificial crap and taste like it too.
How can anyone say this is not a union problem. In this economy workers have to bend a little. A pay cut is better than no job at all. Workers were asked for an 8% pay cut, with a 4% raise the next two years, a 1% raise in the third year, and a 25% stake in the company. The union workers stood their ground, and management had no choice but to liquidate the company. Duh!
Another guy on a gun forum im on said it best.
Explain to me how the fact this company was managed so poorly it went bankrupt in 2004, then again managed so poorly it once again went bankrupt this year is the fault of the union workers and not the management, whose sole purpose in the company is to manage it and make it profitable, and who again were demanding workers take pay and benefit cuts while they dished out bonuses and raised their pay each year?
Frankly though we are venturing into politics abd should stop so im out.
A large part of managed poorly is having some unrealistic labor contracts.
As far as here and now...wonder if any ex-employees are having second thoughts about striking

All I know is in one job engineers can not solder one wire by himself and have to wait for an union person to do it. That and the fact that the union forbid parent volunteers for a school librarian in time of budget cuts cemented my opinion of American unions.
