How about vinca vine? I have tons of it around the yard.

Apparently to kill that, you water it multiple times a day, haha so no.

I wish i could edit my first post instead of keep making post after post:(

Add:
Lucky bamboo

I found a stalk at a job so its in the tank right now.

Add:
Mint plants, spearmint, peppermint you may find as a weed in your yard. I am going to use peppermint once I figure out where I will put this. Maybe the snappers tank but he bites everything so I will have to build him a bigger tank with a shelf he cant get into.

Chinese evergreen

Dwarf Umbrella Palm

Umbrella Palm

Add:

Hilo Taro

Bloody Dock

Imperial Taro

Ill have to write down the names of the plant tubes at petco and petsmart, and see what they actually are

Add:
Fox sedge Grass

Find a way to have just the roots, or the babies bottoms in water. If you have a hob filter, plop their bottoms inside (cover off of course)

I have mine sitting in a window planter filled with lava rock

One of my babies with the bottom in the water. This might be the 2nd week of this setup so thats how much the roots grew in that time frame from little nubs.

Also all those plants that Petsmart has in those tubes that say they are for aquariums will work well to absorb nitrates. I believe they are made by Topfin if im not mistaken. These are aquatic plants that are "house plants" but sold as aquarium plants, but die full submerged. They have Gold Ribbon plants and I cant be sure of the rest, but mine has a decent selection.

I was at my mothers a few weeks ago and she has many hanging plants. I got a spider plant and a potho branch from her, A few leaves and a few roots long and the roots just hang down into the water and the plants are doing great. It actually seems to cut down on the algae growth, But cant be sure how they will effect nitrates this early because they are young still.
