i would say 10"

tails do not count towards length on any fish
its 10"

please explain... not arguing, but confused...

I've many fish, with 6 tanks currently running. I've always counted the tails with all my fish, ranging from my bigger cats which I state that my achara's longer than the tank is wide, which is a 265g. It's 24 inches wide and his tail curves inward by 4-5". That is how I explain how long he/she is though...

My reasoning is that blood circulates thoughout their entire system, needing oxygen, to the ends of the tail, should be counted when measuring the fish.

I would also count the streamers. They occupy space, bothering the other fish.

Based on what I see in many pics on here I'd move the tape measure up another 3/4", hold it on a slight angle, stretch the tail a little more and proudly proclaim it to be 18"...

hahahaha... now, that's a good one as ppl are always trying make theirs bigger than what it seems to be.

But I think this is a genuine question-how do you measure a pleco of this type? I've 2 plecos of different species, but I've given up on measuring my fish for the most part, thus why I state how my achara catfish "appears" to me when he's acrossed the tank, with his tank curved inward. I can tell this when facing him and looking down in the tank, underneath the tank as it's barebottom, and looking in the tank from a side view.

I once had an adonis pleco, with a similar question-I ended up counting the head to tail.
