How can I help my terrors become red?

they look very stressed and very skinny (their bellies are sunken in and their bodies dont look meaty). try to get them to put some weight on, and as said, give em hiding places....they should start coloring up.
do they they take frozen foods?


at 4" they should already be starting to show orange (the females i mean) and stripes. heres a pic of my female when it was 3.5". at 6" they should already be glowing when they are displaying agression.

I picked these little guys up at Petsmart for $1.69 each. They are about 2". To compare, they look different than the fish from Rapps previously posted. Mine are smaller of course, but I think these are Uros. They were labeled only as Red Terrors.

Yep petsmart uros indeed. I like uros though. They are very expressive when it comes to color changing, like moods and things.
 
Keep us updated, I'm curious how things turn out. I'm still rooting for you! As you can see in Shrimp sauce's pic above his female has lost her spangling on its fins as most do. There are a few females I have seen with spangles but not many. They seem to loose their spotting with age. I think the biggest quick fix would be to get these fish to eat as much as they can consume 2-3 times a day to bulk up. Their little bellies should be bulging and they seem sunk in like they are underfed. I bought my guys frozen blood worms when I first got them and they would pound them until they looked like they were going to explode. Give it a try and post new pics after a week or so.
 
Take a look at the new post of "my new wicked red terrors" Those are from Rapps as well and you can clearly ID 2 females and one male. They have to be close to the same size as yours for comparison.

Yeah, I saw that thread. Great festae. As for my fish, I have definitely seen an improvement so far. I've been feeding them 3 times a day and their coloration has improved a lot. I have noticed the most change in their fins, which have become a solid red. Both are displaying irridescent blue stripes. I find it interesting that some of you think the unknown festae is a female. It does seem to have a faint dark blotch on the dorsal, but it has lots of spangling on the fins. One of the most interesting things I see between the two festae is the difference in body shape. The unknown one semms to have a much stockier boddy and sloping head. You can see the differences in the pictures.
 
No visible signs of a small nuchal bump. Finnage is like a females. Some small feeder goldfish may work wonders. Lots of carotens to bring out reds and blacks.
 
I've been feeding them a lot so they are nice and fat. Their colors have improved a lot. Last night, one of them was showing some bright orange body color, and dark black stripes. The stripes would really show up every time she got close another fish, but they would eventually fade. The tank lights were off, so I couldn't get any good pictures, and I didn't want to disturb her by turning on the tank lights.
