My friend lived in the philippines. Hes owned asian aros. He says out there they put large ping pong balls in the tanks to keep their eyes focus on something. You can also put a peice of colored tape on all sides of your tank. Different colors on each sides.

Ping pong balls come in different sizes?

I have seen giant ping pong balls, Like tennis ball size, heavy and more durable. They were called table tennis balls, but obviously weren't regulation.

well with those at least maybe the arowana would not be able to eat them. Though the aro would still loose interest in the balls within a few minutes.

i got those before...we used them for beer pong though...

i think to get the same effect it would be easier to get a few of those kids playpen balls from chucky cheese...then you could do different colors...the only way to keep the aros interest in them would be to change the colors out every few days...not that i think that it will help with DE at all, but it could be fun to experiment with colors and reward feeding like they did with mako sharks to see how smart they really are...

The aro dosent have to be intrested. It gives its eyes something else to focus on besides the 4 walls of the tank and the bottom. Picture yourself in that situation, being in a long bright room. Wouldnt different colors and shapes on the walls help minimize the strain on your eyes?

If its not interested, then its probably not going to look. When that happens, which is like a minute or two later, whether or not its in the tank is irrelevant. Theres also a ton of different colours a shapes on the other side of the glass, if it really needed to focus, theres a ton of things to focus on.

not relevant to the topic at hand, but if you played pingpong in/before the 80's and in/after the 90', you'd know that the official ball size was changed once (for bigger).

i credited Delgado in the redoing of the sticky, but it may have just automatically put it as a quote from me as it was taken from the new sticky

i know right...i see alot of people 'talking' there fish up as it is the sh^t yet never anything more then the talk...nothing is more time wasting then reading posts over and over about how 'my fish is this' or 'my fish is that', but with no pics ever to back it...for all we know it could be that aro in the 55gal for 6yrs and they are just talking out their ***...i can't recall any pics of larger silvers in tanks without DE in atleast one eye, even if it is slight it is there...

doesnt look dropped to me.......

how about you?

i tried to upload some shots earlier in the week, didnt work out, so i had to wait.

here is an older tank shot

tank is 6'x3'x20 inches..........about 225g. i know it is a bit on the small side only being a 6 foot tank, but 3 foot deep really does help make this fish comfy.

once again, i believe 225g tank to be too small.........but my fish is healthy?.....hrmmmm

did anyone ever say your fish was unheathy? i don't recall that...what i recall is the fact that 99.99% of the people out there are all talk with no backing...you have provided a pic of a rare sight...congrats on the no DE...your aro is the largest i have seen without...the 3' width makes a huge diff in how the fish behaves...also from your tankmate they seem to be the kinds that wont mess with it and make it jump witch helps your cause...again it wasn't just an attack at you, but to all that talk and can't walk...as i for one back everything i say and you have shown that you do aswell...
