LOL, seems the only one saying that your tank is too small in this thread is you. IMO the length of your tank has now become too short as it is no longer at least 3x the length of your aro. However the depth of you tank compensates for it. I'm sure if you so choose, your silver could live out it's life in that tank ans be just fine. Though if your aro gets to be 32"+ it'll be rater cramped but still be better off then the tanks most other silvers are kept in. Do you have plans for a bigger tank?

Regarding your aro's eyes and lack of DE(very good to see). Has your aro ever freaks out, to the point of slamming against the side of the thank or top of the tank? I still believe, from my experience, that the biggest factor contributing to DE in silvers is severe or repeated head trauma. I know once my silvers were put into the 3 foot deep tank they became more calm and have much less tendency to freakout. There are very few examples of large silvers without DE, of these most are kept/raised in tanks that are at least 3foot wide/deep. So maybe having a tank with a greater depth may be the best way to minimize DE.

Oh also, killarbb POST MORE PICS:D

this beast freaks out on a weekly basis. not to the point of hitting the lid, but close. it absolutely hates the color red. i will not let anyone into the fish dungeon who is wearing red.

i personally think that sudden changes in lighting has some effect on drop eye. most people have thier lights on or off. i always have a 18 inch strip light on over the top of this tank. then i have the 4 footers that i can turn on for my enjoyment(actually only time i turn them on any more is for tank work, or photos). before this tank the aro was in a 75(only until it was about 9 inches long, maybe a foot). the 75 had blue led night lights.

as for future plans. yeah i have a few options and realistically with the decline in growth rate, i have some time too. i will either build a big tank, something in the 1000+gallon range, or i know a guy that is just itching to set up a 10x4 750g tank. so yeah, i had plans for this fish from the day i bought it.

i dont think you could minimize drop eye in silvers, all the silvers that i had would develop 1 drop eye, i think its a genetic defect
