since i was born, there was a 30L with a wood stand in my family. My mom would raise gouramis and such...

Then in 7th grade i met a friend who had like 13 tanks, and like 6 of them had arowanas.
1 had a platinum silver bought for RIDICULOUSLY cheap at LFS...

so basically ive been a fishkeeper my whole life. lol.
What is your dream set up??

my dad used to keep asian aros,,,kinda took over after he passed away.............

when i was really little my family had a tank, i think it was only like a 10g or something, i was too little to even remember what kind of fish they were, i only remember one was a chinese algae eater. didn't really get into fishkeeping then, however.

in middle school, my science teacher had TONS of animals in his classroom (saltwater tanks, freshwater tanks, brackish tanks, frog tank, chameleon cage, snake tank, mali uromastyx, bunny, geckos, even a snakehead tank for a short period of time).... needless to say, he needed some help with the animals. so everyday of the 3 years of middle school, a couple other people and i would come in an hour before school started and took care of the animals. i guess you could say my interest started there.

it wasn't until my senior year of college however, that i got my first real tank, a 55g and have no had it set up for about a year now

My older brother had a 10 gallon gold fish, when he left home I took over his tank. Eventually adding native bluegills, then moved onto bigger tank and red ear slider. I moved out when I was 19, stop by petco and saw some pacus, which I thought were piranhas. Left the store thinking piranhas all week. Found a pet store thy had a small shoal, bought 5, and I was in for 10 years, had a bad deal on a gold piraya, left the hobby for 2-3 years, river monster got me back into the hobby again. Bought 2 piranha at first, got bored, went to African cihlids, now predator tank and searching for a monster tank!

My family owns a 3mile lake in Bangladesh every year or 2 I would go there for holiday and catching monster fishes it's a country were people love fishing I was 8 years old with my first fish tank

I was 3 years old the first time I went fishing just me and my dad. We were fishing right off a dock. So I was handed a rod and told to figure it and finally when I realized you had to lift up the bail to drop the line I was fishing, but I didn't see this coming, as soon as the bait hit the water BOOM!!! Fish on!!! And I was dumbstruck on what to do is my father said pull back and start reeling. I pulled that fish so hard, it came shooting out of the water over my head and landed on to the dock. Thats where it began, me walking over and looking at this Mangrove Snapper and thinking "WOOOOOOOOW COOOOL" thats what triggered the endless thoughts of fish that came rushing throw my head like a wild fire. And in those thoughts were "Fish Keeping" I'm sorry to say my parents went wrong to let me go fishing that day... SO WRONG!!!! 15 years later my mother knows where to find me either in front of the computer looking at fish or being here on MFK with you guys or PLANTED IN FRONT OF MY TANK. Its still my favorite hobby and will always be. But the first fish I ever had was a Red Tail Shark, Platys, Neon Tetras, a Molly and a Pleco. And then when I was 11 I started to become a menace to society and started to do some fishing of my own in private lakes, ponds, and canals looking for anything from Goldfish, Koi, Cichlids, Peacock Bass, Blue Gills, Sun Fish, Large Mouthes, Catfish, and Etc.... thats when the idea of keeping these fish brought me into the world MONSTER FISH AND WITH MONSTER APPETITES.

May Monster Fish Keeping Live Forever.
