They just look like crap.

If your sand is too fine to vacuum without removing it from the tank dont bother. Your sand bed is already deep. Just leave it alone and wait it out. You will have to do something about the tapwater though if that is the source.
Ok ill just keep waiting it out. Will an RO unit remove silicates?

should I do another water change in a few days and clean some of my sand then? or should I wait till I get the RO unit?

Wait...no sense in dropping more silicates into your h2o right now. You would only be replacing the ones you took out.

good point, should I leave my lights off for a day?

No keep the lights on. If anything run a shorter light cycle during your cycle.
ok ive been running them about 10 hrs a day, might cut it down to 8

good plan. 10 is overkill in all but the most hardcore sps tanks. I am running my mixed reef with some pretty demanding sps corals at 8. I have done much less on tanks without corals or with low light corals. Sometimes down to 5.

don't panic! Water changes with good water and salt never hurt. Diatoms won't kill anything, but they do look cruddy. When the silicates burn up, so will the diatoms. (diatoms are actually tiny glass structures, they look like little glass snowflakes under a microscope - really cool.)

I buy RO water right now too because we don't have a good place for a unit in our loft. They are a good investment and should remove all your silicates. Now just use a good salt. Be patient. The tank is ok.

o ok sweet! I ran it for 5 today, hopefully it helps. Good to know that its not harmful! should i buy more CuC?

No...just leave it be.

You will tinker with that once all the diatoms are gone. Worst thing you can do is overstock and then just watch your money die as the diatoms get eaten and they dont have any food.
