No...just leave it be.

You will tinker with that once all the diatoms are gone. Worst thing you can do is overstock and then just watch your money die as the diatoms get eaten and they dont have any food.

Good point good point. Should I try and clean the diatom off the glass and stuff?

Sure, removing it when you do your water changes and cleaning glass won't hurt. have at it.

Sweet!!!
Update: So yesterday I left the lights on for only about 5 hrs and shut it off after that. Went to turn it on this morning and the diatoms were greatly reduced! My tank and sand look 100% better! Hoping that it continues to get better, I need to check my ammonia and all that later, but Im hoping that its all starting to fall into place. I'll post some pics later when I can to keep you guys updated.

It usually does. Stick with it...the rewards at the end of the tunnel are always worth it. Best feeling ever realizing that you made your tank work through all the issues and problems that you had over the years. I actually think its part of the fun.

I definitely agree,I enjoy feeling that I'm capable of establishing a suitable environment that "wildlife" can thrive in!

Agreed. There is so much life in there, you will spend plenty of time enjoying all the little creatures you will grow in your nano.

Alright well my hermit crabs are doing a great job on cleaning the sand and I also got a sand snail! He/she is pretty cool, burying themselves when they aren't eating and breathing through their "snorkel". Anyhow, my sand is very clean. The only place diatoms are is in the back and the sand snail eats at it back there. The hermit crabs are now eating new diatoms on the sand and stuff that is on my live rock.
The concern I have is that my sand appears to have a large amount of crab/snail feces. Now this would be easy to vacuum up with a water change, but should I wait till I get my R/O unit to do it? The reason Im not worried so much about silicates that I would get from the water I have to use is that my CuC will just take care of it. Should I attempt a water change or should I wait a couple more days till I can buy the R/O unit? I just don't want my ammonia to go up because of the waste from the crabs and snails. What do you guys think?
Here is a pic of the crabs and the sand snail. You can see the sand snails snorkel (the black tube in the middle of the shot). Enjoy!!!

Im also thinking about getting a small snail to clean up my diatoms on the walls of the tank.

Astrea would work well as the diatom cleaning snail...and yes, I would just wait.

You are doing fine right now.
