I'm one of the members. 3 small thinbars around 1" starved to death in a growout tank in the same week. They were on market shrimp and I tried to get them on pellets:nilly::nilly::nilly:

Sorry about your ntt's...... but u made a decision to convert them, 9/10 they are unlikely to die from staring method, if they are 3 inches pr bigger and are fat before u start to starve.

Oh for the 1 incher, he only wanted to eat bloodworms and feeder guppies. I starved him for 3 days and today he took chopped up shrimp. He would not even look at the sinking pellets the other two were taking. What really frustrates me is the fact that he once ate sinking pellets as well but changed the day my mom decided to give the dats a treat..:(

True, I 'e had indos that eat pellats, and all types of frozen, then after moing tanks, they wont eat anything for 2 weeks, and when they do, they decide to stop eating pellats!!!!:irked:

Yes it is truly annoying but then again, I think it is still worth it to keep this kind of fish. Their personality is amazing

its easy to get them off live foods dont feed it anymore

I don't think it would be necessary to starve your fish. I think a progression onto shrimp seems logical because they look like something they would eat naturally. Maybe simulating some sort of natural movement might make them seem more enticing to your fish?

Thank you very much. Your viewpoint seems much more logical.

they wont starve to death

if you are panicking that your tigers are not eating after 2 weeks then thats your problem

if its the thin bar you are talking about in your avatar then it can take up to 6 weeks for them to stop eating live foods

just offer foods daily and no more live foods

its as simple as that eat or die

who's the master you or the fish

my kids don't like peas but I'm 100% sure that if all i offered them everyday was peas they would soon eat them

i have never had a tiger die from starvation and i have been keeping them for 10 years

i have had a thin bar go with out food for 8 weeks before it started eating its normal

every time you put feeders in you are back to stage 1 if you keep putting them in you will never get the tiger off them

their is no trick to getting them off the feeders they will eat dead food when they are hungry and ready to eat

only a foolish fish would starve to death when their is food in the tank daily

My NGT just started eating shrimp. I don't know how long its been but I got him from infinite aquatics a while ago. He would only eat bloodworms. I tossed in a cube maybe twice a week and shrimp daily. It just takes time.

Thank you. This is the kind of response I was looking for as opposed to stop feeding it.

Alright I will have to starve him since he is being a jerk and only eating live.
