My fish is beginning to move toward the sinking carnivore. Is that much progress?T1KARMANN;3252180; said:i think starving is the wrong word
its not like you are not offering the fish food its just the fish being a brat
Oh god I hope I have that much patiencedavid503bk;3252229; said:All my fishes are offered pellets(massivore, floating sticks, & cichlid gold), shrimp, and silversides(pbass food mainly) daily. In that order. I threw in bloodworms randomly for ngt whenever I felt like it. Did this for months. Never kept track of how long it took. Belive me it was MONTHS.
My dat was very stable when I got him, now he is extremely unstable. I think it is their mood that makes them like this. When the dat does not get what he wants, he does not show off his colorBTB0923;3265698; said:I am in the EXACT same situation with my new 4-5" thinbar dat. I have been only offering hikari sinking carnivore for about a week and a half now and he still hasn't given in. In fact, whereas he used to be completely stable and at least chase after the pellets a little before he realized they weren't fish, he is now extremely unstable, always hiding, and pays no attention to the pellets at all. This change in his behavior and stability makes me very uneasy continuing with this method. Is this change in his behavior and stability something to be expected and ignored??

one more thing you should try before giving up is market shrimp. It tends to be easier to get them onto this before jumping the gun and offering pelletsBTB0923;3265847; said:That makes complete sense, its just worrisome ya know? So far I've offered sinking shrimp pellets, sinking hikari carnivore pellets, frozen bloodworms...and nothing is working. It seems there are a lot of people that are very confident that the "starving" method can take more than a week and a half, but it just goes against my instincts as an aquarist. If it goes another week and a half I'm going to throw in a small feeder just so it doesn't go past the point of no return.
