My 75 gallon is infested with stupid snails. I realize they can be good for the tank, but they are eating my plants. They hide in the sand and come out at night. There are a bunch and I do not want to have to remove them by hand. My 5 3inch clown loaches will not eat them. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

What type of snail are they. The most common in planted tanks are the MTS which don't eat plants, and act in the way you described. MTS are actually a very welcom part to planted tanks. If you still want them gone, try a piece of zucc in a jar submerged in the tank overnight. Before the lights come on in the morning remove it, and toss them out.

Someone suggested placing bottom feeder tabs in a small submerged cup or glass and leave alone overnite. Next morning, remove the cup and discard snails. Then repeat same method for awhile.

When I had my bettas in a smaller bowl a friend of mine decided to put a snail in. When I emptied the bowl and cleaned the gravel with vinegar, the eggs swelled up. i jsut rinsed out the bowl and I didn't have any problems after that. I know it might be a little hard with a 75g. If you rinse the tank really well, the vinegar shouldn't do much except lower your PH a little.

depends on what type of snail you have. ive had MTS before and my loaches ate them all very quickly. ive had other species that my loaches wont eat.
