Just do a drip system. Run your drip off a home filtration system. I use a 25 psi regulator with a 1/4" nipple adapter and some airline tubing and an irrigation adjustable drip head

I need to figure out how to do a drip system lol, to me it sounds difficult lol. My tank is now besides a water heater which i think is required for drip systems

Drip systems are super easy...cold water is fine. A slow drip won't effect your temp much at all. Watch King of DIY on you tube. He shows how to do an easy drip system.

Buckets all the time. Drain with a pipe into a bucket, empty it into a wheelie bin on the balcony to water the lawn then fill the bucket in the shower, dechlor and pour into the tank

This is what always made me hesitant to do a drip. All that cold water must send heaters into overdrive, especially in the winter my cold water becomes ice cold. When I do my drip I will do hot/cold.

i use a drip system, aprox 60gal a night(from 11p-3p) of cold water.
once a month i do a deep clean where i clean the glass with a scrubbie on a
pole..while i am cleaning i run one hose from faucet and one hose to drain,
so draining and filling at the same time. i have a well so no need for declorinator

I would love a drip but... sever water shortages

I have a 10 gallon bin I fill up and dump. I repeat that process 5 times and then I have a hose attached to the sink the I run into the tank. I have my finger on the end of the hose just to make sure the water isn't coming out too Hot or cold.

I add something to remove any chlorine from the water and I put salt into the tank as well. I usually put less then recommended with the salt. I don't think the ray needs it but I know it can be beneficial for the bacteria in the water.

We have been seriously considering drip systems for the big tanks but we havent done it yet, at the moment we drain and refil with a hose pipe straight into tank with water at right temperature

We want to do it but still feel uneasy...
If I understand correctly, you not running the drip system constantly?

You say you are on well water, we are also on well water..we call it.. borehole water...
What are the chances of changes in composition in well water over time in terms of metals etc... should i not worry about this?
