How do you prefer your fish?

X5, i think that if you buy them as adults that you are really missing out on seeing the changes they go through as thew grow. Imo buying them as babies is much more rewarding to the fishkeeper, but buying them as adults is more to show off to everyone else.

Generally like to get large cichlids around 5". Before that you can't really know what they're gonna look like. For non cichlids, I get them as small as I can get without fear of being lunch for tankmates.

I would prefer to get them smaller and watch them grow however I would buy larger ones if I did not have the space to grow them out. I also like the smaller price tag of smaller fish. When I get my new larger tank though I hope to be able to get some rescues just to give them the space they deserve though.

Only one guy agrees with me, but for different reasons.

Must be my age (51 ). I like to have them at their maximum potential and keep them.
But i see i am clearly in the minority, which has surprised me.:)
 
I like watching them grow, as long as it does not take too long. I'd probably hit my head against the wall if I kept Rhoms or Datnoids. Thankfully the species I am keeping right now grow quite fast.

Exactly what i do. People know i take them...as long as they're pure midevils...
