I hear all these crazy stories, about people having to tape there tanks to the extreme? Are these just stories, or can these guys really bash of lids, and crawl trough minimal holes in a lid?
All personal expiriences are welcome :D

Well I have had a buettikoferi single handedly busy through my glass top. Luckily my glass top wasn't shattered or broken. They are really good at getting out. Ropefish seems to be the masters with their very slim built bodies, but larger polys have been known to be able to jump with so much force they can still break through the top. That's why I tape my lids shut and still but some sort of weight on top of the tanks.

Yes, ok. I dont have glass as tops, on my larger tanks, i have a lid, so with a little, tape i doubt they would be able to knock anything up, maybe im unestimating these prehestoric survivors :) I'm derailing my own thread now, but when your in the thread, i kinda have to ask a question? Whats the rule of thumb, with bichir sizes? I could imagine something like the Width of the tank has to be 1,5 of the bichirs length?

Yeah about 2-1.5 times the polys max length is about where most people like to have their width. However sometimes you can have a Senegal in a 24" depth tank and a endli or LJ in a 18" or so tank and it still be ok because of the senegals constant movement (IME) they usually like some extra wiggle room. The LJs however should be housed in bigger widths than 18" but with most of them being inactive most of the time an 18" width could be fine for some time before you would absolutely need to upgrade. I would personally not keep a poly in anything that has less width than their max size (unless of course it's a QT tank), however of course anything larger would be much appreciated by the poly.

I have 22 width and 5 foot length so palmas palmas or Delhezi should be good in there for a while, if not for life. Would having 2 Palmas palmas and 2 delhezi, be to much ?

Yeh :) I had to put a stop to this. I found some really nice Pictures of Palmas Palmas, on Google? Are these Guys extremely good quality, or just on the right substrate? http://forums.****************/uploads/post-327-1177548803.jpg http://forums.****************/uploads/post-327-1177548868.jpg http://forums.****************/uploads/post-327-1177548819.jpg Credits too And the sky was made of amethyst from ***********, for some nice Pictures. I've heard that different species of bichir need different substrate, to bring out there color, do palmas palmas, and Delhezi, need different substrate?

the pics don't work for me, but I can tell you form personal experience any palmas palmas I've gotten has looked amazing on black sand. I had one that I thought was a questionable looking palmas palmas on white sand, but when I transferred it to black sand it turned into a corner stone of my collection. I think that any of the upper jaws look better on black sand. I think the ones that stand out the most on black sand are all of the palmas complex and delhezi. All of them stand out better on black but the ones I've listed seem to do the best on black sand. Thats why I love delhezi. They can be the almost the worst looking delhezi pattern-wise, but once you put them on black sand they can start to get very dark and have tons of green.

I probaly asked you this on my old thread, where i asked just the basics of polys, but if you have time in the next couple of days, could you upload a Picture, of palmas palmas, and or delhezi, on Black sand? When i search Google, i find all these terrible Pictures, of polys on White sand, and then i find one Picture of one on blacksand, and it looks... amazing. But im just wondering, if those i see are like extremely high quality.
