How good escape artists are these guys?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes I currently have 3 but have had one that small before. Personality wise they are almost exactly alike on that they are laid back. Pattern wise they don't have as thick bars as palmas palmas and can usually get some nice green on black sand. Compared to retros they have slighter almost yellow belly compared to the retro. However personality and patterns can differ between individuals especially for young ones since they will grow larger and can change. If they look good on white sand I would get them because that will usually mean they will look better one black or a darker sand. As long as you like it I would get it

If you like it then I'd get it. It looks ok to me, but then again I would really buy any bichir haha. I am not that familiar with frontosas so I can't give you any solid advice, but polys are good with a lot of things as long as they aren't too small to be eaten by the tank mates or the tank mates aren't too small to be eaten by the bichirs.

Ok. I'm gonna take a look at what my options are when my tank is done cycling. I could make a 29g growout tank, but do these guys produce alot of waste? I have a Fluval3+ filter for the 29g, wich should be ok, but i could possible add another spongefilter, but im a big fan of the fluval3+, dont know if it will be enough if they produce alot of waste, but ill just keep a look at ammonia. How are the growth rate, on palmas normaly? Not only talking Buttikoefri, but also the palmas palmas, and palmas polli.

A 29g should be a good grow-out they don't produce too much waste. You should be ok with normal maintenance. The palmas complex IME is in the middle. They aren't the fastest or slowest growers so somewhere in the middle. Just wondering, but do you have a tank up and running right now?

I woke up from a nap once with a Moke flapping around on my lap :)

Had about a 4x4" opening in a broken lid.

Seal it up

Have you ever owned those? How are they different from Retopinnis, and Palmas Palmas?
To me they looked good, and they where on white sand.

They have a more speckled pattern, I have one and out of all my bichir its the prettiest

That's its head on the left, don't have a full body shot. In comparison they have a more speckled pattern then other bichir, the gold "dust" is its common name. I highly recommend them! If your looking for something more green I'd go with retro and p. Palmas have more of a stripey pattern, still gorgeous getting one soon

Narh, gonna start cycling the 140g in the next couple of weeks.

cause you know you can just put media or water or even substrate from a tank that's running right now and it'll be almost an instant cycle. I would still wait a day just to be safe.
