CDC COVID Data Tracker
Hello; Had a look at the numbers for another week. Total cases are still going down and deaths are still staying low.
Not according to the world tracking source that I view every day. Yesterday the US had over 130,700 new cases and 750 deaths (should go up slightly as stragglers report their cases) Granted, that is a lot lower than the 304,638 cases recorded on Jan 8 2021. We have been under 100,000 new cases a day since February 13. Only this week have we crossed over 100,000 new cases again.
In January we had days with over 4,000 deaths. While the number of daily deaths has dropped from the highs of January-March, there has been a recent increase in the number of deaths. Yesterday there were 750 deaths. We had not seen that many deaths since May. Since hospitalizations and deaths to COVID-19 are much lower for vaccinated people, the number of deaths shouldn't get as high as in January-March.
