Thank you fellows.

You will cut quite the figure pulling up to the local skate ramp in that.
I can't skate very much in pools and bowls etc. My knees are too old, for more than about 5 miles of fitness cruising.
Also I don't enjoy skating around kids I can't discipline.

Anyhow, that snail represents introspection, & not so much the speed.
You see both sides of him in one view. I try to moderate my two sides.
The PC geek anchored to a desk, and the pilot without anchors.

Oh yeah, the fish, wrenching, and furniture building etc all fall between those two.

Now when you are my age you've had time to discard lots of old hobbies too.

I haven't built a custom bicycle, model airplane, or a rocket since my teens.
I quit playing guitar/bass/organ except rare occasions.
I don't purposefully listen to much music either.
I'm not making recordings much.
My telescopes are only used for target spotting.
I quit welding in the 80's and just started again about 2010.
I haven't painted a picture on canvas since the 70's.
I quit gardening outdoors. I sold my rototiller.
I gave up on the hydroponics.
I haven't built any custom loudspeakers since the 80's.
7 of my 22 tanks are sitting dry, as I have cut back on the fish variety.

And the biggie? I don't read books.

Since my eye surgery I see far better.
Better than when I was a teenager.
Except for reading. I must have glasses to read, and it's now really a pain.
That's the one which caused a lot of distress.
And, I have dropped out of several forums, having no desire to read them.

I own over 1500 books, and have read many twice or more.
But I sort of quit halfway through Dickens Bleak House.
I have 36 Dickens novels, but have only read 21.5.
Plus a half, as he died half way through writing Edwin Drood.

People still give me books, and I now have at least 70 I haven't read.
Most I never will.

Here is a real SS100. You can see it is different in many small ways. no bumpers on a racer!
ss100.b.jpg

It has more trim than mine too, But the real one is not only longer and taller and more narrow, but the hood and cowl are rounder.
Also the fenders aren't joined from 3 pieces. It's seamless front to back.

So no real SS owner will credit mine as anything more than an embarrassment.
They all own cars from $250k to $675k in value. You can't drive them on the street.
Easily damaged and nearly impossible to insure for the road.

Are you sure you didn't add an extra zero by accident? Where do you keep all these books? I would imagine that all those books would take up an entire room.

No, thanks, it's 1500. My wife bugs me every year to sell some.

I've been buying and saving books all my life. I started buying them by the dozens in the 2000's. I bought collections of books withdrawn from library circulation for various reasons. I was ordering from alibris every week. I own every Patrick Dennis. I probably have 200 books just by Isaac Asimov. The largest of them are all nonfiction.

The majority are paperbacks, but I have quite a number of large books too.
Lots of old texts and computer manuals. Many 700-900 pages.
Asimov's guide to the Bible is like 1400 pages.
I have several stuffed book cases and cabinets, and many cardboard boxes.
No room in our house is without books, except bathrooms.
Two of my closets are storing boxes of books.
The garage collection is my car manuals. Dozens. My IH truck repair manual is 6" thick.
(Also a dozen reloading manuals.)

There's probably 600 comic books too. None of them too valuable.
Big collection of Dark Horse Comics.
I have every copy of The Thing, and every Magnus: Robot Fighter 4000AD including the re-boot collections.

I also have 11 banker's boxes full of Pentium era PC games from '90 thru 2005, stuffed in the attic.
Maybe my grand kids will sell them as memorabilia.

BTW I can't find Bleak House. I put it down half-way thru and it's been reshelved!
I don't have any index. It's a messy collection. I must simply hunt it down.
