I work at a Hospital in Des Moines Iowa and have been directly exposed multiple time. We wear the masks and eye visors but it appears to me it just doesn't matter, some people get bad symptoms but many many more are positive without symptoms. My employment has continued without a pause though we aren't getting a bonus this year because allegedly the pandemic has caused the hospital to have financial issues.
Hello; I have put off two medical appointments. One was just a follow up for a check up on a skin biopsy. I do not know if that doctor has kept her practice. The other is a yearly regular check up. They canceled that, not me. It is now set for next month.

Saw a report tonight on the asymptomatic infected. Not for sure yet but the report said these seem much less infectious than those showing symptoms.

I want to predict some shocking things here, but I will be as gentle as I absolutely can in respect for everyone’s feelings.

I don’t think the Covid virus is viable enough to survive much longer as a major health factor. Unless it is unusually strong it will have increasingly common “reproductive” errors, and just dwindle.

Unless there is some awful terrorist attack or incredible event, It is 99% likely IMO that the world economy is going to continue to bounce back like a silicone Super Ball. I do believe DOW Jones will hit 30,000 before Nov.

I think there are going to be special economic bail-outs for people affected by the US rioting. Those are the kind of things that boost confidence across-the-board.

Now there is a pent-up desire to get to work. People have responsibilities and they are determined to meet them no matter what. That is the factor that matters more than anything.

We are fully in an age where science, industry and social cooperation can free many from much labor in a very short time. The evidence is that we have already done so much, with much less technology, in the recent past.

I do not believe that our motivation as a race, to do good, has decreased. It might be slightly frightened or confused....

We are going to have so many jobs that Americans will not be able to do them and we will have to import foreign labor.

Very optimistic, I hope you are correct. We have had no new cases in my state for 2 out of the last 4 days and restrictions were loosened on 1st of June so am hoping the ends in sight.
I wonder about a 2nd wave of infections though, possibly from local cases or once the international borders are reopened. I think if it was so infectious the start it has the potential to spread again. If it does I don't think the politicians will want to do another lockdown so will be curious how it plays out.

We still have not left phase 1 (Parks and trails open for use, hunting and fishing open and elective surgery) otherwise stay home nothing but essentials are open.

They are finding lots of cases at all of the food factories that never shut, from fruits to beef to fish.

455 new cases for the state today
Oregon got 114 new cases, 2nd most new cases in a day since this started.

If anything we are going backwards

Hello; I also see this possibility. There is a known tendency for some of these infections to become less virulent as it passes thru a new host. I do not recall if you were participating in the now closed Ebola 2 thread. In one of my early posts there about covid19 I mentioned an old movie. The Andromeda Strain. It used this feature a part of the plot.

Hello; May I be so bold to suspect you meant to write "species" in place of race. I do get your point.

I don’t think I’ve ever spoken of the white race or the black race or the yellow race.

There is a human race. Hopefully more people will remember that they belong to it.

PNW was One of the first places to be hit. It was hit hard and thus it will be one of the places to recover last.

I think we will absolutely see a second wave as a result of the recent protests and riots. You may see yours just bleed into the first without much distinction.

But I do not think it will hit nearly as hard as most folks suspect. Everyone knows it exists now. They will be more proactive.

Here is the thing that makes me so optimistic. We learned about this virus before it really hit our area at all. Because people knew about it beforehand, and the luck of our situation, we did not have a broad outbreak.

We didn’t do all that much in the way of mitigation. In fact many people fought the health ideas that made sense.

But it seems to be working.

Hello; Yes get it. Just thought I might be helpful.

We're officially Covid free, last case recovered Monday, went to level 1 Tuesday. Basically back to normal with the exception of keeping the borders closed. Gotta keep out all those disease ridden people. :)

Unfortunately, means I'm going back to work Monday...
