How has the coronavirus affected your personal life?

We've had a few more cases of covid and a few more protests, but no riots here.
People had boarded up stores, but we had one 7-11 robbery, and that was it. No damage and very little litter.
Otherwise all is quiet and still no spike in racism or covid cases.

I got a big laugh after watching many people steal shoes and clothes, running like crazy, and then there's a lone person trying to walk off gingerly with this huge cheesecake. Nothing else funny in the news though.

All I’m picturing is a man excruciating slowly walking while holding a 5 foot tall and 4 foot wide cake.

We're up to 13 days since the last new Covid case. Official decision to drop to level 1 is probably next week.
12,962 days since the last riot(Because power went out at a concert)

Stumbled on this. so rubbish I just had to share it...

I can’t believe that I hear Drs who are telling us that the mass protests were not a problem as far as spreading the virus, and others telling us that they were.

If we’re not seeing a huge spike in virus cases during the next two weeks I’m afraid it’s time to go back to work and stop these lockdowns completely.

We will still have a problem with old folks in care facilities but the truth is we already had a big problem. Every good facility already had a sign (Years before the Covid crisis) that warned people who might have contact with a cold, flu or other communicable disease not to enter.

My mom was in four different places and they all had that same policy. We’re going to have to be more concerned than ever.

Hello; this makes sense especially in places that had significant levels of outbreak ongoing already. As I type this I see on TV masses of people out in close contact again tonight. Some are wearing a mask but are close to each other.
There was an uptick reported on the noon news near me today I think. However the official stated some of the newly found cases are the result of increased testing capacity.
Even without the protests or riots I think many folks had started breaking the social distancing. With the riots or protests I guess even more are doing so.
I have had an unsupported theory for a while but will not go into it here. I had started posting about it some in a different thread which generated an unpleasant response and got the thread closed. If the big spike does not happen I may bring it up again.

My brother plans to attend a protest sometime in the middle of the month, I fear that this could be very bad for my family as we have two elderly parents.

Hello; I understand you concern. Your brother should have the option to put himself at risk if he thinks the cause is worth taking a chance of getting sick and maybe dying. However unless your parents are as passionate for the cause as he is, then they may be at greater risk when he comes home possibly carrying the virus.
You did not say but I will guess the brother is not elderly and may himself not be at much risk of serious illness even if infected. If so then not exactly a fair deal for the parents who are at much higher risk due to age.
If he goes then 14 days away from the parents upon his return in isolation might work.

He is in his 20’s so he is certainly not elderly. It would be best if he left for two weeks but regrettably he relies on us for the majority of things, there is a chance he might stay with a friend though.

Hello; My take is colored by my being pretty much on my own by 19 years of age. Afraid I do not follow the thinking of your brother based on what you have posted so far. To me by age 20 a person gets to make important decisions and also gets to live with the consequences of such decisions.
I gather he is not capable of being self sufficient at this time. Not a bad situation in itself as the economy is in turmoil from the virus lockdowns. Many are out of work right now. However a potential consequence of such an action is the needless and preventable infection of your elderly parents when he returns home if he is carrying the virus.
Since it is your older brother I gather you have little power in the situation other than perhaps laying out the case for possible consequences. It will mainly be your parents who make a final call if he does make the trip.
Good luck
