Oh no, I wasn't even aware you'd contacted the virus Jexnell Jexnell . Wishing you a speedy recovery and here's hoping no one else in our fishy family gets it.

Well I made the thread so I suppose I should contribute.

This lockdown has disrupted my plan A for a tank upgrade so I’m going with plan B at the moment. My parents are still sending me to the store at the same frequency as before as they don’t take it serious even though they are an early to mid 60.

I have taken the opportunity to do some cleaning and build my plant selection up.

Only 2 peace lilies in the very back of the second picture aren’t mine. I acquired almost all of the plants within 1 week due to being sent to the store frequently. The list is
1 fern
3 pothos
2 small peace lilies
1 large peace lily
1 dumb cane (I wanted an arrowhead plant, somehow mistook this for one I guess)
1 english ivy
1 setcreasea
2 corn plants
2 arrowhead plants
2 bamboos of some type.

Before this virus I only had the corn plants, 1 arrowhead, and the bamboo.

I would do this but no money to get the meds, so just drinking lots of water and rest is all I can do.

I don't mean to start anything political so C Chicxulub please delete this if it's out of line. It's not meant to be a political post but an observation/question.
But how is it happening that a cancer survivor who has served in the army is just left to be sick and alone and unable to get their hands on the most basic medicines due to lack of funds.? It's not right at all. Especially in a western wealthy nation. My wife was shocked when I showed her the post and explained what I knew of you and your situation. I'm not ranting or being anti American or anything but I'm just shocked and concerned.
I hope someone closer to your location can help out a bit and drop something off and keep an eye on you. You should not have to hope you get worse so you can end up in hospital just so you can get treatment, really feel for you man and hope this all works out soon. Take care in the meantime, sending good vibes your way.

Think it’s more complicated. Let’s hope things turn around.

Good idea for a thread, I'd be interested to hear how day to day life is going in other countries.

Here in Melbourne, Australia we have a partial shutdown. Gyms, churches, cinemas, pubs and nightclubs and casinos are now closed. Restaurants and cafes can only serve takeaway. Football started last week with no crowds allowed but the season was postponed on Sunday, it's againSt the law for certain amount of people to gather, it was 500 but is now less. schools, shopping centres and similar places are still open.
We are being encouraged to social distance, meaning keep 1.5mtrs apart.

Personally, work is weird as I am a sales rep and no one will see me at the moment. Currently we are working from home and the bosses are hammering us for constant email and phone contact with customers to keep the $ rolling in. That's the biggest change for me but there's a very strange vibe around, like doom is just around the corner. Lots of people have lost their jobs in the hospitality industry as everything has closed so am still lucky. Wife is still working in her office but they are all pushing to work from home too. Government is encouraging as much social isolation and working from home as possible but most bosses are still making staff come to work.

The panic buying has slowed down and supermarkets are starting to have stock again.
It feels like we have more disruption to come as more cases are confirmed, we are heading into winter so I can only imagine it will get worse before it gets better. I also think a full lockdown is coming soon, it could be a good idea as so far we are doing well with infection rates compared to a lot of places and it might slow it down further.

I listened to The Doors song "strange days" as I drove through the city Monday a.m and it seems like the perfect soundtrack to what was going on.

I just moved to Melbourne myself last month and not sure if i should say im lucky or not since the way this virus has impacted my personal and work life...

Not on lock down just yet but I’m acting like it. After work I go straight home and make runs to the store when needed. Wear a mask when I’m out.

Good to hear you’re always wearing a mask, too many in the western world dont seem to want to... also while i may not live in the US, thanks for your service as a Dr.

Update:

Roommate can't get a test till he shows symptoms as per local guidelines due to test shortages.
I can't get a test till he test positive.

Day 6 since infection

Symptoms are really starting to show today. Woke this morning with a temp and dry hacking cough, body aches/lack of any energy. Not bad enough to get hospitalized yet

Stay safe Jex!!! Hopefully you make a full recovery soon since this virus is no joke...

Now for me personally this Covid-19 epidemic is all too real especially having lived through 2003 SARS epidemic in Asia...

Its also seriously messing with both my personal and business life... business naturally because i’ve moved to another country and was meant to start a business after i settled, but now all plans for that have been put on hold and even other businesses im involved with overseas have been forced to shut down while staff still need to be paid even during this time off due to their local laws...

A lot of investment projects with other business have now been withdrawn or changed up drastically so no idea what my next plan will be till this blows over...

As for my personal life, i still need to fly in and out of the country every 3 months, so will now become very tricky as i maybe able to leave but not come back, especially now that Melbourne will officially be on stage 3 lockdown come midnight and if get quarantined here if / when i can come back, i’ll need to flip the bill myself each time if it carries on for that long...

Overall its just really screwing up all my life plans atm, just wish people would have taken this more seriously from the beginning and self isolated for 2-3 weeks or at least avoid contact as much as possible then we may have been able to avoid such a catastrophe, but alas, human nature means no one wants to listen till its way too late...

So to explain a bit. As a veteran, if you didn't serve in a war theater or fully retire you don't get anything from the Government. I did serve during the first Gulf War in 91'. But I never went to the war. Stayed in the US as my units "theater of war" was anything that touched the Pacific Ocean. Due to this my unit was held in reserve in case North Korea got jumpy. So since I never went to the "War" I don't qualify as a War Veteran.

I got my cancer a year after getting out. Tried to get help from the Army. They declined it all cause I was "out" and never "went to war". So all I have left is Social security disability. Your pay depends on how much you pay into the system. I only had 11 years of paying into it so I only get $1100 a month.

Sorry to hear. Get some Tylenol and cough syrup. Wear a mask if u got one. If u get respiratory distress then go to the hospital.
Question, besides Tylenol, cough syrup, and masks, is there anything else you would recommend that someone that has the virus get? Like if I had the virus and $50 to spend on supplies, what would you recommend for me to get?
