Ok how important is it to use a air pump I have one and I had it. Running since I got the tank but when I changed the setup I didn't put it back do I really need one. And I also have a nebulizer for those of u who don't know what that is its a medical machine that was given to my son for his ashma that pumps air I put it in my old tank and it made more bubbles than any other air pump out there so id like to know everyones opinion on this thank in advance . P.s. I though fish don't breath air so what the point and is it ok to use the nebulizer

Well some fish breath air, for example gars, bichirs, gouramis and lungfish. Most of the other fish get O2 that's dissolved in the water so the air pump helps circulates water and breaks the surface skin of the water for better gas exchange. I don't think the nebulizer is designed to run constantly so I don't know what the long term effect of it running for extended periods of time will do to it.

from what i have heard unless you have a filter that breaks the waters surface then yes it is a good idea i wouldnt use a nebulizer but the reason that i have read for breaks the waters surface tension is to let gases out of the water

quick question, do power heads help circulate air, kinda like air pump, i have a power head running in my p tank with a tube running out of the tank creates mass bubbles?

yes, your powerhead has an airtube that pumps air into the tank. You also get the same effects from the "waterfall" from the filter

Movement at a water surface makes for disolved oxygen. Your bubbles breaking the surface accomplish this. Ultimately water falling into water is the best. Also my plecos go for a gulp of air occassionally and I have heavily oxygenated water.
