Yesterday I was driving down the road and looked up and said to my girl friend "doesnt that look like the beginning of a tornado?" and then we looked down and saw this massive tree get ripped out of the ground! It was cool but very scary at the same time. We took shelter in a McDonalds where there were about 15 other people huddling in the bathroom. After it went past I headed home to find that our power had been out for 4 hours! :WHOA:

So I spent the rest of the night hand pouring water through my filters to aerate and keep BB alive. But no casualties so it was fine :)

wow what a story.. i am glad all your fish got through the power outage and i will pass seeing a tree being ripped out of the ground.. have you ever saw a tornado before? :eek:wicked weather....

hey liz thanks for concerning about us in the little old mid west. a wicked storm just hit western missouri(i live in blue springs). there is some funky crap going on here:confused:
my sisters house was hit by 70 mile an hour wind. the nice people a few blocks down had the entire house torn off:WHOA:. the foundation was and the driveway was all that was left!!!!
poor guys:(

Well I am not in Chicago right now, but I am supposed to be! Apparently the weather is bad enough they chose to cancel a ton of flights.

I was supposed to fly from Manchester, NH (my parents house) back to Chicago this afternoon. I drive all the way to the airport, (I get immediate updates from United via phone if anything changes) about halfway there the flight got delayed, about 20 minutes later it was delayed again to 3 hours. 10 minutes later delayed 4 hours and after stopping and checking out my sisters new apartment I got a call saying it was canceled. Damn airlines, if they are going to cancel the flight, just cancel it, why do they have to push it off and push it off then cancel it.

My girlfriend thats in Chicago says the weather is not bad there at all. They had a little storm and some wind, but nothing bad really. So I am not really sure why the canceled it. So now tomorrow I get to drive down to Connecticut and fly out of there, that is if they dont screw that up on me!

In any case, I hope everyone out in the Midwest seriously facing the storms is okay!

Weather's been nasty here in Iowa! Memorial day weekend, an EF5 tornado wiped out pretty much the entire town of Parkersburg, IA which is just a little to the north and east of Cedar Rapids. The rivers here have been flooding constantly. It's been a nasty spring storm season!

and i hope you have a safe flight when ever it may be home to your girlfriend.. if they cancelled the flight it least your safe and not flying into any dangerous weather patterns.

Thanks for the concern Liz!! It's fine where I am, but a bit south of me 2 major interstates are closed. Roads have been washed away. Some tornadoes and high winds have taken some old barns and trees down. I saw a house that had what looked like a 100 year old oak tree laying inside of it. North got nailed with a lot of wind so there is a lot without power, but overall things seem to be alright (minus the flooded towns south of here)

storms rolling through here now are dropping 2-4 more inches of rain. tornado watches are popping up as well as new t-storm warnings to our west. big storm in madison dropping hail supposedly heading east - northeast.

not that i want to see people get hurt or houses and property damaged but i love sever weather. the thunder and the lightening. i havent seen a tornado yet, i want to though. seen a couple funnel clouds blow over me in the past but thats it.
