storms rolling through here now are dropping 2-4 more inches of rain. tornado watches are popping up as well as new t-storm warnings to our west. big storm in madison dropping hail supposedly heading east - northeast.

not that i want to see people get hurt or houses and property damaged but i love sever weather. the thunder and the lightening. i havent seen a tornado yet, i want to though. seen a couple funnel clouds blow over me in the past but thats it.

Haha Yes lots of snow here in winter..but it does not do damage usually.. not devestating etc... just hard work clearing paths etc... i live on lake ontario where you have constant Lake Effect in winter. Water town is beautiful and quaint.

I think the areas between Seymour and Greenwood got hit the worst. I live in Columbus...here the columbus regional hospital had to be evacuated to one of the high schools, and then they had to be evacuated again because the high school they were moved to started to flood. A bridge the runs right beside the hospital was destroyed and the hospital itself sustained millions of dollars worth of damage. Roads EVERYWHERE are flooded and certain areas of town are simply inaccessible. I've seen Apartment complex parking lots that were completely submerged, cars covered up to their side mirrors in water, etc.

I had actually driven up to Indy Saturday morning and tried coming home that afternoon. The normal 45-50 min. trip took me 3.5 hours and if I could draw you out on a map the route I had to take to get home it would look like one of those Family Circus cartoons that followed Billy's path from one place to another...lol.

Things have dried up quite a bit since yesterday but there are still people stranded..I have a friend who is stuck out in Brown county because the main highway and most of the back roads to get back into town are flooded. I did finally find a way for him to get back though...the only other way I could think of and to travel the 10-15 min. it'd usually take for him to get home it'll take him about 45 min.

Houses have been destroyed....my sister's entire neighborhood had to be evacuated. Her house had I think 3 feet of water in their basement. And from what I heard on the radio, there are a lot of people who's houses sustained damage but since they don't live in a "flood zone" they won't get any help from their insurance.

It's been crazy down here....and we're supposed to get more storms.

Flooding is starting to get out of hand here. My girlfriend just sent me the graph for the river level predictions here in Cedar Rapids. Current level is 11.75', expected to crest between June 12 & 13 at around 20'. This is going to be a mess. Many experts are saying it will be worse than '93, which any of you that live in the Mississippi River Valley remember vividly!

i was just going to ask the last time that this happened and you mentioned it..and now i remenber well the mississippi river flooding.. i hope they are wrong..

I just heard from a co-worker that the town that I mentioned as getting wiped out by the EF5, Parkersburg, IA, had to evacuate some of the low-lying areas due to a dam rupture and consequential flooding! Those poor people can't catch a break!
