I just heard from a co-worker that the town that I mentioned as getting wiped out by the EF5, Parkersburg, IA, had to evacuate some of the low-lying areas due to a dam rupture and consequential flooding! Those poor people can't catch a break!

So the damn did give out ...i heard they were worried about it but i did not know the dam ruptured.. my heart goes out to them..

Yeah, this is a bad deal all around. I just spoke to my girlfriend, who's a chemist for Cargill. Their plant is right on the banks of the Cedar River and the water is coming up faster than they expected. Their power substation is going to be completely submerged within the next day and they will have to run on backup generators. This is going to be a mess. The radio station in my office just said that if the river rises to the forecasted crest levels, travel from one side of town to the other may become very difficult.

the flooding DRAINED a lake here in Wisconsin. Lake Delton is now nothing but a river. the excess of water caused the flow of water to find a new path and carved a whole new channel about 50 feet wide to make a new path around the dam to the river. soooo, if anyone is looking for some native cold water fish there is TONS of panfish and bass etc just flopping around in shallow pools of water that are still there.

Actually drained a Lake??? Do you have any pics ... thats so sad..

yes, actually drained the lake back to its original river before the damn was put in. i will try to find some pictures.

the water eroding the land also resulted in 5 houses being dumping into the current as well

There are more storms forecasted this week. In fact, I just checked the doppler radar and there's a small, but intense, cell moving towards us right now. This is bad news, and there's rain in the forecast for the rest of the week!

I pray for all of you to be safe and not have be as bad as they predict.. i have never heard of so many intense storms like lately... ..it seems like one after the other ... the weather system is so different the past two years... we always had lush lawns and plenty of rainfall and cool but comfortable summer etc...now here upstate high 90's and HOT and no rain..like the desert right now..:screwy::screwy:
