How Long Have You Been Fishkeeping...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
my family had fish when i was young and my mom allowed my brother and i to pick them out...haha but i'v been keeping fish seriously for about 4 years now started with the typical 10gallon tank of death but have built up my collection to a 220,135,110,90,55,29,29,29 haha and still have that 10gallon up and running (although not with the same inhabitants, although i still have 1 blue gourami and 4 gold barbs from the original batch(diff tank now))...

as far as knowledge i know a fair amount but still classify as a 0 IQ, because i believe the beauty of fish is that even the scientists don't know near everything about fish, and even they find new things/are proved wrong by the day.
just think how awesome it is being a hobbiest and one could very well discover a breeding behavior or something else and be the first person to ever document it from the home aquarium.

ive been keeping fishes since i was 4,and never lived without one since 1998. i still have a lot to learn and im always learning something new here in MFK!!! i dont have an IQ..... when im ready im going to keep aros again...

I've been fish keeping for around 14 years. It's a wonderful hobby, and you always learn new things as the years go on.
great hobby..:D

20 years this year.. which is amazing and 20 years around horses as well =D And I'll be the first to admit I still don't know jack! I'm always learning something new. Always learning about some new fish, or some new piece of equipment. freshwater, saltwater, brackish. I've never kept Discus and always wanted to. I still love my live bearers! I've always had live plants, but started my first true set-up this past year. I've bred percula clowns, alligator pipefish. And I still couldn't tell you their scientific name. I had a Northern pike, and a Musky in a 55 until they out-grew it. african cichlids, synodontis cats. I generally put fish in my tanks and they make babies! O.O and I'll be the last person to tell you how I managed to do it, even I don't know half the time.
