How long have you been here?

I very recently broke the 10000 reaction score mark for what it's worth. In doing so I became an Alligator Gar!

The sweat, and tears, and backbreaking graft that went into that reaction score, and for what, a damn fish!!

I thought a nice shiny engraved plaque would have been more befitting of my near legendary status. What a con!! Lol.

I’ve been doing tanks since the mid-80s……there were no forums let alone internet back then. Only resource was the good old fashion LFS and that was it. I had to tear down a 90 around 2012 in disgust and gave everything to my son swearing to never return. When I joined this forum in 2018, I was starting to get the itch again and since I never followed a Fish Forum before that I wanted to learn so I would not be deterred by a lack of knowledge. Been a member of numerous Motorcycle Forums but never a Fish Forum. I start a thread with anything that stumps me regardless of how dumb it may sound. I’m a firm believer in there not being such a thing as dumb questions. Anyway I’m rambling…..but I’m very glad to be a part of this huge database of Aquarists…..cheers

Yes, i remember the days well. All us old timers can relate to this. I never trusted LFS employees advice, I was more of a books man back in the day.

Somewhere up in the attic in an old dusty cardboard box are a few fish books from my original stint in the hobby back in the 1980's.

I recall a couple on goldfish, and I've also got a couple on piranhas and oscars.

Ah the days of yor' ?

Guess it's been around 12 years, with a ten year break. My 75 is still my largest tank with kribs, a hrp female, swordtails, corys, ottos, and a farlowella loads of plants. I'd still like to have a tank large enough for say a colony of green sunfish, or earth eaters but it's likely not to happen, and that's okay. If I ever find myself with no job but way, way more money and enough strength to do the maintenance for years to come, then some of the projects around here. . .but I like the tanks I got and the rest of the house could use more attention than they get.

I've been in the hobby almost my whole life, and I've been browsing this site for a very long time. I've had a few accounts under different emails at certain periods throughout time, but I made this account last year.
