How Long?

Like turkey boy said, make sure the ray is completely healthy first.

And I'm not really sure about the red-belly when you have a bare-bottom tank with those water parameters. I'll be keeping an eye out for what the more experienced suggest.

Thanks for the input. Im pretty sure it was healthy before starving, as i feed every ray the same stuff with the same schedule, thats why i try to get rays on everything as fast as i can. I've also never noticed red bellies on any other rays ive starved before so i just wanted to be sure.

The ray shook the pellets out of the worms!? That is incredible. They are scary smart sometimes, that is for sure.

I've gotten the redness from barebottom tanks before. When they squeak along, if they aren't use to it, they can rub themselves a bit raw.

I've also gotten a bit of redness with gravel and sand. I'm not sure what causes it, but if you figure it out do let us know!

Ah, my fiance does bring up a good point. That has happened to us before. Maybe that's the cause..? That went away after several hours, though.
 
It never had it before though. Even when i first got it in like september, it didnt have a red belly. It scales the tank quite a bit during feeding time so up until a month ago, she didnt have an red on her belly. Then once i started starving her, i haven't really been at that tank except for water changes so i didn't notice until today. I've searched up the net, but nothing on red undersides from starving rays.

:ROFL:yea, I thought she would slurp it up just like all the other worms so i tossed it in and went to go stuff the next one, i came back and found pellets all over the tank so i dropped the second one in and she went berserk to get all the pellets out.
 
bump...anyone else got any ideas?
