I just recently bought a 180 gallon tank for my African Cichlids and I was wondering how many fish would you guy's reccomend as a maximum total of fish to keep in it. I have two outside filters that pump about 700 gallons per hour each and I do weekly water changes. The guy at the store who seems to know his stuff said about 40 fish although I think I could have more than that in there. What do you guy's think?

i say as long as you have over filtration, and the cichlids never begin to have territorial issues, keep adding more. :D
i used to have like 20 fish in my 50 gallon lol.... they werent all small either.
so i'd say get like 50 at least.

Gomez...I have mostly Haps and a few mbuna and I'll be getting more Haps.

PaOol...I just may add another outside filter when they get bigger.

I think overcrowding your african tank is a good thing as long as you have the proper filtration. I would say 50 fish.

All I can say is wow superG. How long have you had all of them in there. Any problems?

That is an amazing tank you got there super g! Love it!

and if you have the over filtration then go for it and put more in I would go around 50-60 and see what happens.
