How many angelfish should I get for them to not be agressive with each other

Just set up a 40 gallon and looking to get some angel fish in the mix. Currently have emperor tetras, red phantom tetras, black phantom tetras, cardinals tetras, platies, guppies, kuhli loaches, amano shrimp and an angelicus plec. Compatibility wise, would an angel fit in with these other fish (none are very agressive apart from one platy) and if they would how many is optimal for no aggression between angels and to fit in tank. I am aware there are different species some are smaller... so the smaller species would be preferable,

Thanks very much for any help

I don't have much experience with tetras but I'm pretty sure that the angelfish would eat them unless the tetras are very fast. I have an angelfish in a 23 gallon with a gourami, a cory catfish and 3 giant danios. My angelfish works perfectly fine with these fish, but it all depends on the fish. If you did get angelfish I would only get 1 or 2 because if there as many predators as there are prey, you will end up with a lot of dead fish.

You’ll be pushing the limits in the 40 if you get multiple angles. Think about 8-10 gallons per angelfish.
That being said, you can buy several youngsters and let them pair off and only keep a pair once they are older.

Is this a 40 tall? breeder?
I would get a single angel. Your tank wont be big enough to house a group when they are adults, and if you only get one you don't have to worry about them fighting.
Angelfish are fish that you don't need to keep alone! This is cruel!

A pair is only an option when it is temporary for breeding. Angel fish need to be kept at at least 5 pieces but it is better to have a group of 10.

You tank is way to small to keep such a group so it is better keep another fish.

Also a lot tetra species will be eaten by Angel fish. Only the species with a higher body are an option, like the Gymnocorymbus ternetzi

You're entitled to your opinion, but I don't think there is anything wrong with keeping a single angel in a community of smaller fish, when the tank is not large enough to support a group. I will agree that a group is better, but I don't think that Angels are a species that it would be "cruel" to keep a single specimen of. Perhaps with fish like tetras, who are terrified of predators if not kept in a group, this would be true. All cichlids are social fish and don't live alone in the wild, so would you say it is cruel to keep any cichlid without 5-10 others of it's species?

This not only my opinion but also the opinion of every other specialist!

Angelfish and Discusfish need to be placed in a group if you keep them alone they will die and this will not be of old age.

Not all ciclids need to be kept in groups but Angelfish need to be kept in a group. If you don't have the space for a group please take other fish in your aquarium.

Can you link me some reliable sources, that say that angelfish will die of loneliness, if kept alone? Should be easy to do if all specialists agree.

To be clear, there is plenty of literature stating they like to live in shoals. I am aware of that, groups are better, as is true of pretty much all fish. I'm looking for your source that says they will die if kept alone. Because, over the years, I have seen tanks with a single angelfish, which did not seem to be on their death bed.

Have a look to "Jos Hut" in Google and translate his articles.

He is keeping Angelfish for already 50 years and is also one of the top breeders and delivers to many LFS and he delivers also to wholesales in Germany and The Netherlands.

A lot of fish are not kept onder ideal circumstances and because of that they will not reach the maximum age that is possible. Angelfish for example can reach an age of 15 years. If kept alone the will reach this age.
