How many Mbunas can you fit in a 20g long tank?

thanks!!

i would throw a shoe at you for telling him it can work, but of course if you are anything like my wife you will only make me mad again so you can get the match for your new shoes...

no, I think that is one reason I have stayed here so long...people do not bite eachothers head off, we just help and hope for the best...

Man africans are smart, If you put diferent sized hiding places for different sized fish they can really fend for themselves.

I had (not anymore) a psuedotropheus crabro that was...4.5-5 inches in my 20 long.

And there was a 2 and a half inch red zebra and this blue one that was the color of the backround of this forum and he was maybe about an inch to 1.5 inches.

I kept them in there for about 3-4 months and of course got them all at different sizes, but there were never torn fins. Africans are much smarter than the american cichlids (i found this out when I moved them to my 75 with a jack dempsey who was as big as the bumblebee african).

I had the least problems with my african cichlids in that 20, its definitely possible as the long has more of a foot that the 20 high.

good luck, just don't leave them in there too long like i did.

i wont, thanks for sharing! so i started thinking of a new fish list.Since i did a little research on all these cichlids my friend has. Each of them some similarities but more than a few differences,i am torn between all of them.i really like the rustys for their peaceful per..and the yellow labs just brings out a vivid color to the table.red(orange)zebra have a great rep for parenthood with amazing egg spots.red peacocks have become easier to sex, some might say.

Because i dont feel to sure and safe of adding the peacock i wont.so my new fish list consist of 12 Mbunas.4rustys,4yellow labs,4RZ. what do you guys think of my list?

yeah, no peacock please. also they are going to outgrow that tank so FAST. Hope you have another one lined up very soon!

:D yes i do.thank you for your concern,Navygirl.
But you did not give an exact answer as to whether or not you like my fish list?

im keeping 9 in a 30g but i agree abou7t 4 and peacocks may be too big for the 20G make sure u have lots of hiding spaces.
