over 40 years, off and on . . . this last stretch has been for a straight 20 years with any gaps. i was a 10 yearold when i got my first tank. it was a 10 gallon stainless-steel framed tank with an aluminum full hood and an inside filter. I got it with my allowance. it cost me $10, brand new.
Did it have a slate bottom?

Actually running and maintaining my own tanks about 3 - 4 years... but have always had fish around the house since i was knee high to a grasshopper...

My dad took care of oscars umm 12 years ago. When I was age 8-11 I was taking care of my dad's africans and oscars. After we moved we gave away all our equip. Age 15 I started with my bettas in a 10 gallon to what i have now

Always had a tank around the house. My dad got me into the hobby. left it for about 2yrs... I did have a lil' 5 gal w/ guppies during that time... But to be allowed even that was a constant strain on the relationship.. When I moved out.. I went up to the 8 tanks I have now within' a few monthes... Haven't regretted it one bit. And can only say I'll never drop the ball again. Love this hobby way to much.

Also learned that the longer I've been in this hobby the less you really know. Fish are like people. Generalizations help, But no 2 fish are the same. And what might work for one keeper may not work for another.

Since I was in Kindergarden. So 8yrs. Made so many Mistakes! From then till 3 grade I had so many fish dieing, I didn't get the whole Cycling thing, temp, food, etc.
Now I haven't had a fish die in over 5yrs. Except ones that jumped out...
